World Language Trips

Students in Deal’s World Language program have the option to participate in a Deal-sponsored trip during 8th grade. The trip is organized by EF Tours, an educationally oriented service that manages student trips across the world. The cost for the trips is funded by the family of the student.  Through the support of the PTA, generous parents, and an extensive fund-raising effort by teachers and students, Deal and the World Language department have made some scholarships available to select students. When funds are available, students who have exemplary academic records, have been involved with the World Language program since starting at Deal, who demonstrate need, and who can craft an essay in support, have received up to 50 percent of the cost of the trip.  Deal provides faculty members and administrators as chaperones.

In the past, students have traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, and France, depending on the language of study. New in 2012 were trips to Peru (Spanish-language classes) and our first ever trip to China!  Each Spring, the decision is made as to where the following year’s trip will go.  Students who are interested in traveling as part of their language study are encouraged to get in touch with their world language teachers to get more information.
